Matt Presents at Plymouth County Assessors Association Clerks’ Meeting
mjt / 0 Comments /Matt would like to thank the Plymouth County Assessors Association for the opportunity to present an updated version of “It’s Just a Bundle of Sticks” at the PCAA Clerks Meeting on Thursday, September 3, 2026. “It’s Just a Bundle of Sticks” uses the well-known analogy of property rights being sticks in a bundle to discuss strategies to assist Assessors Offices understand the details of a particular conveyance. This is an essential skill for the staff in an Assessors Office since Massachusetts Law requires that real estate taxes for a particular fiscal year be assessed to the Owner of record on prior January 1st. During the presentation various types of trusts were also discussed using the analogy of a cup of coffee.
Matt would also like to thank the Town of Plymouth for its hospitality and the use of the Great Hall at Plymouth Town Hall for the meeting.
